
Turkish Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association
TÜSİAD is a non-governmental voluntary association composed of individual members and structured in compliance with the Turkish Law on Associations.
As of February, 2001 it had 458 members. Its membership is composed of owners and managers of individual firms, groups of companies and holding companies operating in the Turkish manufacturing and service sectors. The companies represented by TUSIAD's membership occupy prominent positions in the Turkish economy.
According to TÜSİAD's 1997 membership profile, total sales volume of the 223 companies, groups and holding companies surveyed was $65.7 billion, or 40.9% of Turkey's value added in the relevant sector. These companies employed more than 371,000 people. TUSIAD members have generated 35.5% ($9.3 billion) of Turkish exports and 20.8% ($10.1 billion) of imports in goods and services.
